SWEENEY APPOINTS ASSISTANT ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE

August 29, 2005 – Sweeney, a full-service, independent public relations firm, has named Bess M. Nelson as an assistant account executive in its Wilmington, North Carolina office. Her responsibilities include media relations, strategic planning and brand development for a group of business-to-business and business-to-consumer clients.

Nelson joined Sweeney as an intern in May 2005 after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a bachelors of arts in communication studies and a psychology minor. While attending UNCW, Nelson served as the vice president of communications for the Public Relations Student Network, was a member of the Lambda Pi Eta honor society and Communication Studies Society and volunteered at the Cape Fear Literacy Council. She also served as a marketing and public relations intern for UNCW Presents cultural arts series during the fall 2004 semester. Nelson currently resides in Wilmington.
