SWEENEY SPORTS MARKETING CALLED IN FOR RELIEF
Cleveland Indians affiliate and country music band tap SSM to coordinate fundraiser
Aug. 2, 2006 – Sweeney Sports Marketing, the sports and sponsorship arm of Sweeney, has been
tapped to coordinate media relations and publicity for the upcoming Lake County fundraising concert
and baseball game with the Cleveland Indians Class “A” affiliate Lake County Captains and Cleveland-based
country music band 77 South.
Many Lake County residences and businesses were damaged on July 28 as some areas received nearly 10 inches
of rain in 16 hours, causing historic flooding. On Aug. 1, President Bush classified the area as a federal disaster area.
The fundraising concert will be held at Classic Park in Eastlake on Tuesday, Aug. 15. 77 South will play live at 5 p.m.,
followed by the Captains’ 7:05 p.m. game against the Delmarva Shorebirds. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and a ticket for both
the concert and game are $5 per person. All proceeds will be directed to the Lake County chapter of the American Red Cross.
The Sweeney Sports Marketing practice was formally established in 2000 to focus on the marketing needs of the Westfield
Junior PGA Championship and has gone on to support such entities as the Junior Ryder Cup, Westfield Cup, USASA Veterans Cup,
McManus Racing and Cleveland Clinic Sports Health, among others.
