SWEENEY FILLS OUT SPORTS MARKETING ROSTER WITH SUMMER EVENTS
June 10, 2005 -- Sweeney Sports
Marketing Group has added two major amateur sporting events to its summer
schedule -- Westfield Cup and the USASA Veteran’s Cup. The
Cleveland-based public relations and marketing firm also will provide
consultation and support to the Westfield Junior PGA Championship for the fifth
straight year.
Westfield Cup, the nation's premiere preseason collegiate soccer
tournament, will be held Aug. 18-21 at Lee Jackson Field on the University of Akron campus.
The event,which is sponsored by Westfield Insurance, features competition among eight
Division I men’s and women’s teams, plus soccer clinics, guest speakers, food
and games for attendees. Sweeney is providing public relations and marketing consultation, and media relations
support.
The 2005 United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) Veteran’s
Cup will be held June 22-26 at Veterans Park game fields in Wilmington, N.C. The event will
include approximately 2,000 players, and is expected to
attract an estimated 3,000 attendees. Sweeney is providing strategic consulting and coordinating media and
government relations efforts leading up to the event.
The Westfield Junior PGA Championship,
celebrating its 30th year, has a rich tradition of featuring golf’s rising
superstars, including Tiger Woods, Grace Park, Phil Mickelson and Michelle
Wie. More than 10,000 spectators are expected to attend the 2005 Championship, July 13-16 at Westfield Group Country
Club, Westfield Center, Ohio.
